I don’t know about you, but quarantine has caused me to get a little nostalgic. I have thought a lot about the past and my childhood and things that made me happy when I was younger. I recently thought of a movie that came out when I was a teenager.
Who can forget the iconic “Field of Dreams” movie with Kevin Costner as Ray Kinsella, who introduced us to that ever-familiar phrase “If You Build it They Will Come.” If you haven’t seen this movie, I highly recommend you take a quarantine evening with your family and watch it. It is a great show with some pretty deep meanings.
The main character heard a voice in his head: “If you Build it They Will Come.” At first, he didn’t know what it meant, but he knew there was something he was meant to do…He knew he had a higher purpose. So, he followed that voice and decided it meant that he was going to build this massive, amazing baseball field in the middle of his cornfield.
Everyone thought the guy was completely nuts because he spent his entire life savings on it, and almost lost the farm because of it. But what happened? They did come. His dreams came true. So how did he make that happen?
We all have dreams. We all have things we want to accomplish in this life. Until we learn the steps to take action towards making those dreams a reality, those dreams will remain in that unattainable category where you might find beachfront properties in Arizona, unicorns, and chocolate bars that give you six-pack abs. I’m still hoping someone invents that last one. (Crossing fingers.)
“If You Build It They Will Come” – 5 Ways To Make Your Dreams Come True
Too bad we can’t just snap our fingers or rub a magic lamp to make our dreams come true but dangit, we’re stuck in the real world. This is the hard-hitting reality show where there ain’t no Santa, you are on your own, and no one is coming to save you. It’s all up to you, my friend.
Harsh, I know. But true. So let’s talk about the steps our hero Ray Kinsella did to make his dreams come true. Here are 5 things you need in order to create the life you desire and make all your wildest dreams come true.
You need to want it bad enough that you are willing to sacrifice whatever you need to in order to make it happen, even if everyone else thinks you are crazy.
Just like Ray did in the movie, everyone thought he had lost his mind, but that didn’t sway his desire to do what he wanted to anyway.
Ray believed that if he built it they would come. Do you believe that about yourself? Here’s a way to deeply instill that belief within you.
Create for yourself a personal statement about who you are, and repeat it every morning and every night. Anytime you are feeling doubts, repeat it 10 times. Here’s mine: “I am a confident, talented, powerful influencer.” Create something similar that resonates with you and own it every single day!
“If you fail to plan you plan to fail.” There. I said it. You can’t expect to go build your dream home or your dream baseball field without a plan or blueprint. The same goes for your dreams. Setting goals is part of your planning process. Set a 12-month goal, a 6-month goal, a 90-day goal, and a 30-day goal and work your way back to get there.
To make this work, you need a few statistics. A good start is your conversion rates and your average cart value so that you can determine how many leads you need to generate in order to hit your goals. So if your conversion rate is 10% you know that you need to have 10 opt-ins to get 1 sale.
The more leads you generate, the more sales you make. If you know your opt-in rates, average cart values and conversion rates it’s just a math problem to determine how much traffic you need to generate to hit your goals.
Ray Kinsella worked hard to build that amazing field. We need to do the same. In Apex, Ryan has two programs to help us with this. The first is the “G-code” which is a way to live your life with gratitude and purpose. He has a Facebook group an app and even a written book on Amazon about it. Check it out.
The second program we have in Apex is “Building Your Machine.” This is a specific plan that is laid out over 6 months that shows you exactly how to generate those leads and build your business. By putting in the work every single day, you open the law of abundance and reciprocity because you are putting value into the world and it will come back to you.
Ray almost lost his farm. He almost gave up. People were calling him crazy and telling him he was crazy. But his belief pushed him through all the adversity and he triumphed in the end. There will be hard times. There will be the Force of Average coming at you from every different direction. You can’t let that stop you. Never. Give. Up.
You got this. Push through that pain like a boss. Embrace that pain and harness it into a force of energy that Superman would envy. You are born with the seeds of greatness in you. You just gotta go the distance and show up every day.
And guess what? We don’t want you to do it alone. Join the Apex family and let’s build your machine together because if you build it, they will come.
