The hardest part about being an entrepreneur is keeping track of all the great, and some not so great, ideas you have.
All-day long you come up with different ways to be more successful and yet only about 1% of them come to fruition.
Why is that?
Unfortunately for most those half thought out strategies end up going through one side of the brain and right out the other because they are not properly accounted for.
In order to accomplish the goals, you are setting for yourself you will need to implement a system for writing them down as they come and creating appropriate plans of action to accomplish them.
“It’s only a dream until you write it down, then it’s a goal” – Emmitt Smith
So how do you come up with a solid plan?
The Reason You’re Planning To Fail Is…You’re Failing To Plan
The first step is figuring out EXACTLY what you want to achieve. Until you get very clear on the results you will struggle to reach any level of success. If you are too vague such as saying “I’d like to make more money” the universe could simply respond by allowing you to make an extra $10.
While that might be enough to pick up a halfway decent lunch, it’s certainly not the kind of money you meant when you said “more”.
So get clear on what the results look like for you.
Now that you have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish it’s time to start working backward. Break down the step by step process of what you will need to get done and in what order to complete your task. Think about potential alternative routes to reaching the same destination.
Will, any of them be easier, require less work, or help you reach the end goal faster? Take those things into consideration before choosing your path. Remember to make sure these are small actionable steps that you can complete in a timely fashion. Overwhelming yourself is a surefire way to fail faster.
You know what needs to get done, now how long will you give yourself to make it happen?
You need to establish firm timelines for reaching each step of the process if you want to achieve your goal and finish your plan. Without a set timeline you will be continuing to operate blind.
Look at each required task and prioritize them based on which will take the longest or require the most effort. By giving yourself ample time to complete the task you will avoid the stress of trying to accomplish each task at the same time.
Knock out some of the harder tasks first, you will feel far more confident after doing so which will help you keep the momentum going through the remainder of the plan.
You’ve got each task laid out, you know exactly how long each should take and what will be required to get them done… Now What?
IT’S TIME TO TAKE ACTION!!!
The last thing on your list of plans should always be taking action. A plan that is not executed is simply a list of things that need to get done and those tend to pile up and become wasted potential.
You already know you have what it takes to be successful or you wouldn’t be reading a website like this. So get out there and do what you gotta do to make it happen!
