One of the hardest things for most people to do is show up for opportunity when it’s presented.

For whatever reason, it always comes back to the 80/20 rule. If you offer an opportunity to 100 people at least 20 of them won’t even bother to show up. You could be giving them the exact opportunity they asked for and they would still find an excuse not to be there.

This is the force of average hard at work.

Most people talk about how bad they want something but only some are willing to do what it takes. Think about how many people you’ve talked to over the years who say they are going to do something and then never even get started. It’s a serious problem among adults in today’s society.  A majority of people don’t even show up for themselves.

Holding yourself accountable to your commitments is important!

Every once in a while someone from our sales talk group on Facebook will say something along the lines of “I’d do anything to work for your company,” and when presented with a day and time to show up for an interview, they balk. They give every different excuse imaginable from not having the time, or not being able to make travel arrangements, to a lack of funds, and all sorts of things in between.

Why even ask for the chance if you’re not going to take it?

The first part of getting a job is showing up for the interview. Once you’ve gotten the interview out of the way you show up for your first day of training. After your training, you show up on the right days and at the right times. Showing up is literally the most important part!

You can’t get anywhere in life unless you take the time to show up.

For those of you who put in the effort to show up, the next best thing to do is to show up early and ready to work. Nothing is worse than seeing someone shuffle into the office at five minutes to nine, take more time to make a cup of coffee, have a bathroom break, step out for a quick smoke, and then finally sit down at the computer to start working at fifteen after the hour.

Don’t be that person.

The last part of showing up that is highly important is staying consistent. You can’t just show up sometimes; you gotta show up every time. Being someone who can be trusted to show up when you say you are going to show up and not having to be constantly reminded will make you hugely valuable to any business whether it’s yours or someone else’s.
