Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

For most average people, Sunday is a day of rest. One last day of the weekend to really laze about before returning to work on Monday. Everyone has their own thing they enjoy on Sundays depending on the season. From the Nazareth to Nascar to the NFL, there is always something to devote your time to on a Sunday.

Now I’m sure there will be a handful of you who clap back and say something about taking personal time for yourself and having a day of rest and all that. I’m not telling you not to rest; I am telling you that if you want to be more successful there is a ton of opportunity ripe for the taking while everyone else is taking time to relax.

It’s all in how you structure the day to maximize your time!

I’ve found the following works really well for my family:

Wake up early and have a family breakfast. Spend time being grateful for the things in your life.

Straighten up the house. Starting the week with a clean house helps me feel organized and get things done.

Find an activity you can all do together that includes moving around, maybe it’s a walk-through the local farmers market or a trip to the zoo.

Once the family is good and worn out, bring them home for some afternoon relaxation while you work. My son is almost four, so we can put him down for an afternoon nap around 2pm, which gives me 3-4 hours of time to get work done before dinner.

Dinner with the family is important around our house and Sunday is no different. Put the work away for an hour or two and be present. Once the family has settled in for the night, you should have about 1-2 hours left before bed to plan out the remainder of your week and prepare to crush it.

If you look closely, the entire day is structured around the G CODE.

The first thing we do is work on our GRATITUDE and our GENETICS, then we hit the GRIND hard through the afternoon and close out the evening with our GROUP. If you stick to this routine properly, you should have split the day into about two six-hour days, comprising six hours of work, and six hours of family time. When it comes to achieving a work-life balance, this system is about as good as it gets.

You will also see how the rest of your week is more successful because of this routine. Your family will be stoked you spent time with them and made them a priority. Your body won’t be fighting to remove the excess toxins from too much partying. Your work will already be ahead of schedule, which means you can celebrate your gratitude in style with a big handful of wins.

So, the next time you are trying to figure out how to be more successful…

Start thinking about how you can make better use of your Sunday. In fact, start thinking about how you can implement the G CODE every day of your life. Once you have dedicated yourself to hitting all four areas I mentioned on a daily basis, you will see how your life will change for the better.

If you’d like to know more about the G CODE and how to implement it in your life to crush it every single day, you need to be part of the APEX!
